Isn’t that what we all want to do? Spring ahead in our careers. Finish chores so we can get to the movie? Skip church so we can get started with one of our most coveted days off?
And now, very soon, the clock’s going to steal from us a valuable hour. One we can never get back.
I wonder what would happen if I truly looked at every available hour that way. Would I spend less time tweeting? Blogging? Napping?
Or would I actually take more naps?
My March 7th horoscope said (and I’m paraphrasing) I need to slow down and see the value in personal relationships. They are just as important as career, it not more. That doesn’t sound like springing ahead to me. That sounds like finding a low gear to complement my high cerebral pace.
When an hour is taken away from us, maybe it’s supposed to do more than remind us to reset our clocks. Maybe the patron saint of day light is out there saying, “Slow down. There’s only so many days in each of our lives.”
Amen.
