Ask. Believe. Hydrate. Receive.

Editor’s note – I originally wrote this on my myspace blog back in May. Since then, I have seen a few of my “asks” become reality. Not the least of which has been finding true love. So enjoy the post. And keep thinking positive.

1. Ask.
2. Believe.
3. Receive.

Those are the three steps to “The Secret”, the book and DVD created by Rhonda Byrne and endorsed heavily by Oprah-somebody.

You may have heard of this thing, “The Secret”. And you may think it sounds a bit cheesy. Truth is, it is a little hokey. Especially some of the video techniques they employ in the movie. But, I have to admit, I’m buying into the theory behind it. Partly because I want it to be true, since there just happens to be a few things I am asking for right now.

Things I never even knew I wanted until I started to believe I deserve them.

Now I just can’t wait to receive them via the boomerang effect of what Byrne says is the “The Law of Attraction.” What you put out into the universe will come to you. She says that many of the world’s greatest thinkers, artists, scientists, inventors, discoverers and philosophers all subscribed to this theory. But pessimists be warned – even if you say you DON”T want something, all the universe hears is the thing you speak of.

“I don’t want to go broke,” translates into “go broke.” I guess the universe has selective hearing. And maybe she could use an assistive device. Or maybe I should just be careful to only ask for the positive.

Ah-ha, I think I just uncovered the real secret to “The Secret.”

Whether or not there really is something behind “The Law of Attraction”, thinking positive does feel better than thinking negative. I’ve been so thirsty for so long because my glass was just never full. Not even half way. But lately, even on bad, cranky, stressful, chaotic days, my glass never goes empty. And if I know anything about myself, it’s that hydration is important.

Also, I just can’t write about this topic without pointing to one very well known verse from Matthew 7:7 – Ask and ye shall receive; seek and ye shall find; knock and the door shall be opened unto you.

And all Oprah’s people said, “Amen.”
